*** Langer was born in Israel and held dual citizenship.

**** This was a short-lived record.  In heat 1 at the 1977 State meet prelims the State record was set by Beverly Hills High School, but then in heat 3, fifteen minutes later, the record was broken by Locke High School of Los Angeles, who broke its own record in the State finals.

***** Sandra Anderson first set the record in the Division 3A Prelims in 2:17.2 and set it again in the Division 3A Finals in 2:15.4.  Cynthia Warner also of Beverly broke the prior Division 3A record in placing second to Anderson in 2:16.6.   At the State Meet both Warner and Anderson bettered their marks, with Warner finishing 5th in State in a time of 2:12.5 and Anderson finishing 6th in State in a time of 2:15.0.
