Handheld times are not reflected on the all-time lists or records as they have been converted to fully automatic times.

Prior to 1980 the 440 yards was run.  The conversion of 440 yards times to 400 meters is the subtraction of .3 of a second (“c”).  Hand held times (“h”) have added .14 of a second to convert to electronic timing.
